TJ Oshie leads pregame rituals while Alex Ovechkin provides sound effects

The Washington Capitals are playing their home opener Saturday night, and, thanks to Caps social media, we got a glimpse into the once-secret pregame rituals that take place in the hidden hallways of Capital One Arena.

TJ Oshie quarterbacks the play, but it’s Alex Ovechkin’s Chewbacca-style soundtrack that make it *chef’s kiss* perfect.

Big home opener mood

TJ Oshie, deadpan, starts with an exchange with a grinning newcomer Brendan Leipsic, then moves into a carefully-choreographed fist-bump with Tyler Lewington.

The real action starts when Oshie and team captain, Conn Smythe winner, Stanley Cup Champion, dog carrier Alex Ovechkin show the new guys How It’s Done and start yelling into each other’s faces.

In the background, between the bleeped-out naughty words, you can hear Tom Wilson warning the newbies to keep their “heads up!”

There was also some on-ice ritual action from between newly-named alternate captain John Carlson and Ovechkin.

We’ve yet to see anything as innovative as the Wilson/Hagelin saxophone duet, but the team – and the season – are still young. Who knows what kind of magic we’re going to see?
