After years of choking in the playoffs, the Washington Nationals won the NL Wild Card game after some clutch heroics by Juan Soto (and a very spin-y baseball). The comeback win, aided also by veterans Ryan Zimmerman and Stephen Strasburg, started a wild celebration at Nationals Park.
“The [Capitals] are very inspirational to us. They show what a bond of brothers, guys coming together as one can do in this city,” Adam Eaton said recently. “And the way they partied afterward, I think everyone in this clubhouse would like to do as well. We’re not quite hockey players. I don’t know if we’re going to go swimming in fountains or anything but hopefully, that’ll inspire us to get there.”
The Nats didn’t go swimming, but they sure did have a wild celebration last night that even the Caps would be proud of.
Here are the best moments.
Let’s start with the clubhouse. There was dancing and lots of alcohol.

Trea Turner, who is an alumni of NC State, took perfect safety precautions and wore a football helmet. He then pretended to be undercover during his press conference.
Moderator: “I think that’s Trea Turner on the right.”

Brian Dozier, who went viral for his shirtless dancing and singing a week ago, was again shirtless and soon-to-be-dancing to his favorite song, Calma.
I asked Dozier why he wasn’t dancing yet. “Oh, we’re just getting started,” he replied. “They’ll put on [‘Calma’] later.” https://t.co/G0zGrzb2t7

Someone gave Sean Doolittle a lightsaber. He’s a big Star Wars guy.
He danced with it for the rest of the night.

Stephen Strasburg, who is usually Mr. Serious, let loose in celebration.

There was a lot of dancing.
And there was a lot of champagne and beer, and most of it ended up not being drunk.
Back at the MASN headquarters, broadcasters Dan Kolko and Bo Porter had a similar reaction to everyone in the park.

The celebrations weren’t all in the clubhouse, as the field became rowdy after Soto’s bases-clearing, go-ahead hit and when centerfielder Victor Robles made the final out catch.
Ryan Zimmerman gave the sassiest, tiniest baby shark to the dugout after his eighth inning bloop single that started the rally.
The entire team mobbed Daniel Hudson at the mound after he recorded the save.
Watching all these gifs is giving me the goosebumps I had all night long.
We’ll finish this off with this image of Juan Soto and his father, who traveled from the Dominican Republic for this game.
