TJ Oshie has a lot of superstitions to remember before and during games. Oshie already does butt slashes with Tom Wilson (and other teammates too while spinning), his puck juggling routine, his long jump into the tunnel, and his bewildering pregame screamfest with Ovi.
Now there may be a new wrinkle on the bench with Nicklas Backstrom.

Sunday, before the start of the second period of the Capitals final preseason game against the Carolina Hurricanes, NBC Sports Washington captured the two stars perform what I can only describe as a synchronized routine.
The players hold their sticks out with one hand over top the other and then bounce into each other twice.
It looks like a variation of an intentional bench collision the team had last season, which was much more boisterous and included Devante Smith-Pelly. (S/T to cowgirlbebop!)

they go from from "V. SRS BUSINESS" to "DSP HAS ARRIVED WE ALL GO *BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE* BABES!🤗🤗🤗" & then back to "GAME FACE" so quickly.
we need that kind of elite transition work in the game tonight too babes, ok? pic.twitter.com/0wVW3FByzQ

I would also like to note the not-on-brand smile by Nicklas Backstrom – a smile which continues to get more and more prevalent since 2018 when the Capitals won the Stanley Cup.
More of this, this season, please!
