On February 27, 2018, the NHL published the compilation video Weird NHL Vol. 7 on YouTube.

The first clip features Alex Ovechkin and TJ Oshie getting amped for a game. And really, you need to see this. I pinky swear.

During an unknown away game, watch as Ovechkin and Oshie exchange rapid-fire high fives in the hallway just outside the rink. Then they chest-bump and scream gibberish at each other. Ovi yells something along the lines of Let’s take their heads off.

This is ridiculous, sure, but it’s just a small part of the weird that is the Capitals pregame routine. We recently got a live look-in at what goes on behind the scenes via ESPN before a February Caps-Jets game. In that video, John Carlson is shown giving Alex Ovechkin a cup check with his stick while TJ Oshie high fives and fist bumps almost everyone on the team.

Out on the ice, the weird continues as a spinning TJ Oshie whacks everyone on the rear with his stick. Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson also gets Oshie back with his own patented butt-slashes.

This team, man.
