Colorado Avalanche forward Andre Burakovsky might have himself a year if head coach Jared Bednar keeps the lines the same at the start of the regular season. It all just depends on Mikko Rantanen.
On Friday, Burakovsky was part of a trio that included superstar Nathan MacKinnon and the Avs’ captain, Gabe Landeskog.

So … pairing Andre Burakovsky and Nathan MacKinnon at some point this year might work after all. #Avs pic.twitter.com/cOzPQOHdLn

The Athletic’s Ryan S. Clark posted video of Burakovsky and MacKinnon scoring with ease on a drill. 😮 Holy moly that is SOME skill.
Restricted-free agent Mikko Rantanen, the Avs’ first-line right winger, is still currently unsigned and holding out. If his contract negotiations continue to drag on, Bednar said Burakovsky and summer acquisition Joonas Donskoi would be the first candidates to replace him.
“(Burakovsky’s) another big strong guy that can skate and has a head to make plays,” Bednar said after the first day of Training Camp ended Friday. “After one skate, I liked all three [of the lines] to be honest with you.”

While the goal earlier in the session was sick, Burakovsky’s day wasn’t full of highlights. He was also captured laying on the ice in pain after a bag skate.

Regardless, Burakovsky impressed on his first day.
Day 1 notes: Kadri, Byram, Jost and Burakovsky stood out to me in a big way. Johnson and Cole skating together and looking relatively healthy. Bellemare is a great bottom 6 addition. Goalies all looked impressive, but especially Grubauer

And he was reunited with some old friends.
