Alex Ovechkin left practice with a painful injury, but came back as if ‘nothing happened’

The Washington Capitals’ informal practice got a little bit hairy on Monday and no, I’m not talking about Braden Holtby’s neckbeard.

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin suffered a left leg injury during a scrimmage. According to The Athletic’s Tarik El-Bashir, Ovechkin was in “a lot of discomfort” and needed help getting to the dressing room. NHL.com’s Tom Gulitti saw him fall awkwardly and “heard him yell” in pain.

But just like all of the Ovechkin injury stories before, this one had a happy and humorous ending.

Here’s the tweets from this morning.

After practice, Ovechkin briefly commented to reporters before going back into the locker room.

“Yeeeahhh, it’s okay,” Ovechkin said of his left leg.

Then without being prompted, Ovechkin explained why he was sporting a gnarly cut on the bridge of his nose.

“Last night, I fell off bike,” Ovechkin said. The Great 8 did so while going on a bike ride around his neighborhood.

But fear not everyone. Despite a jacked up face, Ovi is fine.
