Braden Holtby is back in DC and already doing suicides in full goalie gear

Braden Holtby is the latest star Capitals player to return to DC. On Thursday, Holtby took to the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex to participate in the team’s informal skates.

And you guys, he went hard. The Holtbeast participated in suicides in full goalie gear.

There’s dedicated and then there’s Braden Holtby.

Video

Miranda R. posted the video on Twitter. Holtby is seen skating the length of the ice with his teammates at what Caps players call Camp Nemo – exhausting drills run by strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish.

NBC Sports Washington’s JJ Regan reported that Nicklas Backstrom, Lars Eller, Evgeny Kuznetsov, John Carlson, and Jonas Siegenthaler were all on the ice this morning. Michal Kempny flew back to Washington on Tuesday. TJ Oshie, Ilya Samsonov, Alexander Alexeyev, and Joe Snively have also been seen at Medstar too.

Holtby’s return begins what could be his last year in Washington. The elite goaltender is in the final year of a five-year contract but is expected to speak to Brian MacLellan in September about his future.
