Teenage hockey players between the ages of 15 and 19 will have the opportunity to skate with TJ Oshie on Monday, August 19. The Capitals forward will be participating in a free Skate & Skills event at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
Sponsored by AAA, the event is targeted at teenage drivers who either have their driver’s license or learner’s permit. Skaters will be required to sign a distracted driving pledge in order to participate in the event.
Oshie will be hosting two one-hour sessions, from 4pm to 6pm on Monday. The skills portion of the event seeks to remind the teenage participants of “the importance of keeping your eye on the goal – whether on the ice or on the road.”
The event is co-ed, and both male and female skaters are encouraged to sign up. While the event is open to skaters of all skill levels, participants must have a 2018-19 or 2019-20 USA Hockey number to register. Full gear is also required.
Registration is limited, with only 25 spots remaining as of Thursday morning.
