Alex Ovechkin’s offseason workouts are going strong

Alex Ovechkin‘s workout videos started popping up in July while he was still vacationing in Italy, but it appears he has been spending the past few weeks working out at a sports training facility in Novogorsk, Russia.

On Thursday, Ovechkin’s best friend and workout buddy, Gus, posted a video of Ovi doing a weighted sit-ups with a medicine ball.

Ovechkin has been spotted over the weeks by a number of eagle-eyed athletes who are sharing the facility, including gymnasts, speed-skaters, and track athletes. In each of the photos, Ovi is wearing the same distinctive two-toned red Nike shirt with his personal “8” logo on the front.

The Russian machine also spent some time jogging in the woods, which is where these serendipitous fans ran across him.

Ovechkin will soon be headed to China to represent the NHL as an international ambassador. He is scheduled to attend several youth hockey clinics and business development meetings with the goal of growing the sport of hockey.
