Tom Wilson enjoys being shirtless on weekends, but he will never pose in ESPN’s The Body Issue. Wilson made this public knowledge on his appearance on the Cabbie Presents Podcast on Wednesday. Wilson also commented on Alex Ovechkin’s knockout of Andrei Svechnikov in April.
ESPN’s annual Body Issue features athletes photographed nude or semi-nude, strategically posed to cover private parts.
Wilson, who is a permanent resident of Ab City, routinely posts shirtless photos of himself revealing his ripped body. But he says he would never pose with only a rubber ducky, like Tyler Seguin did in 2015, due to fear of being relentlessly chirped in the locker room.
“I’m happy not doing that,” Wilson said, “Once those pictures are taken, it’s over.”

Cabbie Richards: “Okay, I’m going to start with the hard questions first. If your summer is anywhere between 80 and 90 days, how many of those days are spent with tarps off? No shirts.”
Sean Monahan: “Probably 40.”
Tom Wilson: “Yeah, more on weekends. I’d say Monday to Friday, the shirt will be on. Weekends you can, wherever you are, at a pool party or at the pool, it’s time to take it off.”
Cabbie Richards: “I think I saw on your Instagram, you and a few buddies were probably at a cottage or something and it was just tarps off.”
Tom Wilson: “Greece, yeah. If you’re in Greece, you know…”
Cabbie Richards: “ESPN the Magazine, The Body Issue is the last physical issue of ESPN the Magazine. After that, it’s shutting its doors. How do you guys get into The Body Issue and have you inquired about getting into The Body Issue?”
Tom Wilson: “No.” [Laughs]
Sean Monahan: “No, definitely not for me.”
Tom Wilson: “I can’t see Monny with a rubber ducky and naked. No, that’s a little…I’m happy not doing that, I think.”
Cabbie Richards: “What if you guys were asked? Would you do it?”
Sean Monahan: “I’d probably have to decline. I don’t know, maybe Willy could do it with his body.”
Cabbie Richards: “No, but why would you decline though?”
Tom Wilson: “Once those pictures are taken, it’s over.”
Cabbie Richards: “In what way?”
Sean Monahan: “Teammates have them, they’re everywhere.”
Tom Wilson: “It’s just material. It’s material to get brought back.”
Cabbie Richards: “And get ridiculed for? What if you look dope though?”
Tom Wilson: “It doesn’t matter, you’re going to get ripped either way. That’s a part of being in a locker room.”
Cabbie Richards: “That’s like, laced in jealousy though. Listen, the eight-pack is so refined or the quads have so much definition. What was it, two years ago was [Joe] Thornton and Brent Burns and I think they’re like on a driveway or something?”
Tom Wilson: “Yeah, those guys can pull it off.”
Sean Monahan: “Those guys are veterans.”
Cabbie Richards: “But you being a young buck, you couldn’t pull it off? How old was [Tyler] Seguin when he was in it?”
Tom Wilson: “Oh, I’m sure he caught a lot of heat for that. I probably gave him some flak for it.”
