Tuesday afternoon, Jakub Vrana officially re-signed, inking a two-year, $6.7 million contract to stay in Washington through the 2020-21 season.
Former teammate Devante Smith-Pelly was one of the first people to congratulate Vrana on social media despite being without a contract himself.
Vrana had a classic response.

“Proud to be part of the organization @capitals for 2 more years, love ya caps fam,” Vrana wrote on Instagram.
“Atta boy V,” Smith-Pelly wrote in a comment.
“@smithpelly 😂❤️ how is the pasta ?” Vrana replied.
The quote is from a celebratory dinner in DC where the Capitals were celebrating their Stanley Cup championship. A partying Vrana asks, “Devante, how is the pasta?” as DSP chows down on some noodles. Vrana’s Instagram Story that night would go viral.
Another player to congratulate Vrana on his new contract included former Capitals and Bears teammate Nathan Walker, who signed a two-year deal with the St. Louis Blues over the offseason.
