Tuesday afternoon, the NHLPA announced the salary arbitration dates for 38 players.
Christian Djoos’ date is July 22 while Chandler Stephenson’s hearing will be held on August 1.
Shortly after the schedule was released, the Vegas Golden Knights came to terms with goaltender Malcolm Subban on a new one-year deal.

Most arbitration hearings do not actually end up being held and have served as artificial deadlines for players and teams to work out new contracts. Players and teams try to avoid sitting down in front of a judge as it can get really real during the arbitration hearings. Players can leave with bruised feelings as the team explains why the player is not worth the money they think they deserve.
New contracts or decisions on Djoos’ and Stephenson’s futures could help generate movement on a bridge deal with Jakub Vrana. The Capitals have limited space under the salary cap – less than $4.3 million.
