Merriam-Webster’s word of the day on June 25, 2019 was the adjective “gritty,” which it defined as “showing courage and determination.”
The Philadelphia Flyers’ mascot–the proper noun Gritty–was on hand to make its presence felt.
Gritty and the Dictionary isn’t the celebrity couple we expected to fall in love with, but nevertheless, that’s where we are and where we’re happy to stay.
