Green added on his Instagram that “the feeling of joy is hard to express. We are expecting a baby girl. I’m beyond grateful for my amazing warrior wife to give her mind, body and soul to the process of carrying and giving birth. Axel is excited and has been requesting to go inside the belly to see her. She will be here soon my son. We are humbled and filled with gratitude. 🙏🏻”

Mike Green played 10 seasons with the Washington Capitals before leaving as a free agent to Detroit in 2015. MG52, a former young gun along with Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Alex Semin, was a Norris Trophy finalist twice during his time in Washington and scored a career-high 31 goals during the 2008-09 season.
The Greens still have ties to DC as they bought a row home in the area in 2018.
