Evgeny Kuznetsov had five assists already this series, but he waited until the back half of Game Seven to score a goal of his own.
But, boy howdy, was it a beaut. The bird is back.
Redeemed morally ambiguous anti-hero Carl Hagelin started the play with an excellent pass. Kuznetsov hit the after burners as Hagelin prepared for a pass, but Kuznetsov didn’t offer one. He wasn’t going to throw away his shot. It was a laser beam over Petr Mrazek’s shoulder.
Then Kuzy flipped the bird.
what were you thinking when you decided to shot
“I don’t know. It just a pretty good look for me. I tried to shoot,” Kuznetsov said at intermission to NBC Sports Washington’s Al Koken. “I know It’s not my favorite, but in this type of games, if you’re going to waste those types of opportunity, you’re going to pay for it.”
