Creative Caps’ fan Miranda is perhaps best known for her hair-larious Carl Hagelin sign. While she made that sign to welcome Hagelin to his new hockey team, her latest sign is welcoming a player back home.
Devante Smith-Pelly returns to the line-up for Game Five on Easter weekend. Of course Miranda had to let him know that she and the Capitals’ fanbase as a whole are happy that he’s risen all the way from Hershey back to DC with an Easter-themed poster.
“He could have gone anywhere after the Cup,” Miranda said, “but he chose to stay here. He knew how important it was for kids in the area to see someone that looks like them playing in their city in the NHL. I think it says a lot about him that that factored into his decision to stay.
“But also,” she added, “he really seems to have fun.” And this poster is nothing if not fun.
Here’s a look at Miranda’s poster-making process: first came the rockin’ red and those strong goal-scoring arms.
Next, of course, a glittery rainbow. Smith-Pelly is one of the Capitals who had said they would not go to the White House if invited, a decision which endeared him to many fans, including Miranda.
I’m not sure how to express the significance of what @smithpelly23’s return means to me. I love him so much #WelcomeHome #NotSuckBack2Back pic.twitter.com/7QTymjd5fT

“The way he stands up and speaks out for what he believes in, even though he exists on a huge stage,” is one of the reasons why DSP is an important figure to her. “His conviction in what he believes in is so admirable.”
DSP can’t play hockey without gloves–and since tonight, all the players are playing for TJ Oshie, of course DSP’s decked out with his gear.
She made one DSP poster previously which celebrated his success in the 2018 playoffs.

The Caps fan actually got to meet Hagelin not long after her masterpiece of weave and glitter–but didn’t have a chance to ask him what he thought of it.
Ohhhh he’s so nice, but I got too flustered and forgot to ask him if he saw the sign I made for him #carlswaglin pic.twitter.com/VSDdbBZ93p

Luckily for the Capitals players and for fellow fans, Miranda has no plans to stop making posters any time soon.
Art. My art is how I’m expressing my love for @smithpelly23
