Andrei Svechnikov sports black eye, wears full cage after Alex Ovechkin fight

Thursday morning, the Carolina Hurricanes held their morning skate before Game Four and injured forward Andrei Svechnikov was on the ice doing some light skating.

The 19-year-old rookie will not be in the lineup tonight after being knocked out by Alex Ovechkin in a fight during Game Three.

Svechnikov sported a shiner under his left eye. He also wore a full cage.

NBC4’s @dckerNBC4 and NBC Sports Washington’s @capsbigbossman tweeted closeups of Svechnikov’s face.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour confirmed that Svechnikov won’t play tonight and is unsure when or if Svenchnikov will return for the rest of the series.
