Axel Jonsson-Fjallby scores twice to give Djurgården 3-1 series lead in SHL quarterfinal

After returning home from Hershey, Capitals prospect Axel Jonsson-Fjallby went 33 games without a goal before scoring for the first and only time in the SHL regular season against Mora IK on March 9.

Friday, The Hunter scored twice in Game Four of Djurgården’s quarterfinal series against Skelleftea. AJF’s big goals led Djurgården to a 4-2 victory, giving the club a 3-1 series lead.

Both goals showed off AJF’s speed, shot, and suffocating defense.

Goal 1

Jonsson-Fjallby’s first goal came in the second period and gave DIF a 2-1 lead. After stealing a cross-ice pass from the point, AJF raced ahead, deked, and beat goaltender Gustaf Lindvall high and stick side.

Goal 2

Jonsson-Fjallby’s second goal closed the scoring. Again, AJF picked off a pass near the point and buried a shot into the back of the net.

The goals were Jonsson-Fjallby’s first of the 2019 SHL postseason. He tied for third in SHL playoff goals with 6 in 11 games last season, including five goals in five games.
