It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of a death in the Capitals family. Josephine Laughlin, the mother of Capitals broadcaster and color analyst Craig Laughlin, passed away Friday morning at the age of 97.
It’s with a broken heart that I share the news that my mum peacefully passed away this morning at the age of 97. To all of Caps Nation, I send thanks and gratitude for the kind words you always shared with Grandma Locker- it always made her day! I love you and miss you Mum!❤️ pic.twitter.com/eZ5Gl4Sgcl

“Grandma Locker” was a huge Caps fan, vocal about cheering on the team on Twitter, and was adored by the Caps fandom.
Craig asked for prayers and support for Grandma Laughlin on Thursday night, when he unfortunately had to cancel his family’s charity auction.
Please say a prayer for Grandma Locker tonight ❤️ pic.twitter.com/MaaklmyvjS

Our condolences to you and yours. We've loved following her fandom over the years, and she seems like a great lady. We'll raise one to the Laughlins tonight.

No words Locker. But I have no doubt she lived quite an adventurous 97 years here. And she's got one hell of a son to be proud of. Take comfort in knowing she lives on within you.

You dear mother was a cornerstone of the #Caps community. I’m heartbroken to hear this news. She was such a vibrant light, and certainly someone I aspire to be with her love & unrivaled fanaticism. I’m glad she could watch the Caps win The Cup. You’ve made her so proud, Locker ♥️
