The Washington Capitals are back home to host to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Obviously, we’re anticipating seeing a pretty tired team in red since they played in New Jersey only 24 hours ago. It also doesn’t help that the Tampa Bay Lightning will be well rested and they continue to be extremely dominant.
But I get to say, “I guess Lightning CAN strike the same team twice!” At least, in one week! Am I right!? Because the Capitals just faced the Lightning on Saturday too??
Puck drop will be a tad past 7:30PM, giving you a little extra time to grab some dinner or a beverage of your choice. If you can’t watch from a television set, you can always stream the game from your devices using the My Teams App! Website co-founder and Kevin James fanatic Peter Hassett will be bringing you the recap.

Optional morning skate for the guys this morning. The Washington Post’s Samantha Pell have us a hint at the likely scratches, which means Brooks Orpik is likely back in the lineup, just as Reirden hinted earlier in the week.
Here at an optional morning skate for the Capitals ahead of their game against the Lightning tonight:
Travis Boyd, Christian Djoos and Dmitrij Jaskin are the last three on the ice.

The 2020 Winter Classic logo has been revealed. I desperately need someone to make this into an actual belt buckle and wear this to the actual event. Does anyone have the number for Tyler Seguin? It might be about the belt buckle, it might not be about the belt buckle. I can’t make promises.
The logo for the 2020 Winter Classic promises to have big Texas flavor, so buckle up and tune in for the unveiling as part of a press conference at 3 p.m. ET today at the Cotton Bowl, streaming on https://t.co/lf7CgbHFsN. Story by @cotsonika https://t.co/2kFzQWH6LU

Storylines
- The Carolina Hurricanes continue to be fun as heck.
- Joe Snively signed an amateur try out with the Hershey Bears and will be wearing #15, Jeff Halpern’s number with the Caps.
- Welcome to the 20 goal club Mr. Brett Connolly! This is his first 20-goal season and he is the fifth Cap to have at least 20 goals this season. After the game, he also told the media that he “respectfully declines” the offer to visit the White House.
- A big ol’ “Congratulations” to Nick Backstrom. He is now the 26th player ever to record 6 straight 50-assist seasons. He also remains one of the top players in…my heart.
- NHL players voted Alex Ovechkin‘s shot as the best in the league according to the annual NHLPA player poll. In other breaking news, water is wet. I would’ve made a scene if this went to someone else.
- A giggling Tom Wilson is a good Tom Wilson.
