Principled, pizza-eating slacker dynamo Brett Connolly has hit a new career high in goals. Thanks to a savvy pass from Christian Djoos and his own commitment to the attack up close, Connolly has hit the twenty-goal milestone.
The scoring sequence began with Christian Djoos, returning to active play after a long stretch on the bench following an injury. High along the half wall, Djoos delivered a deft cross-ice pass to Connolly in the slot. The Devils defense wasn’t watching Connolly close enough; he was able to beat New Jersey goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, though Connolly took a spill right after.
Here’s a closer look.
Connolly embraced Djoos after the goal.
Lars Eller (top left) made sure to grab the milestone puck.
Connolly, 26, becomes the fifth Capital with at least twenty goals. He joins Ovechkin, Oshie, Vrana, and Wilson. Kuznetsov has 19 goals while Backstrom has 18.
