Alex Ovechkin will go down as one of the greatest goalscorers of all time.
Now he’s the focus of a rap song by Toronto-based artist Friyie.
The music video, entitled Ovechkin, is shot at a hockey rink while the rapper rocks a red Ovi home jersey.

In the video, Friyie is seen wearing a chain for BONG Entertainment (Brothers Obtaining New Greatness, Inc.). There’s also a dancer that can be seen in the background wearing a black Ovechkin jersey from Ovi’s debut season in the NHL.
Here’s the cover art.

Fryie has 82,600 monthly listeners on Spotify. He also has a famous backer.
According to Billboard, Fryie recorded the song Floyd Mayweather walked out to for the Conor McGregor fight, entitled Money Team. (DSP randomly met Mayweather in the runup to the fight.)
Among the other artists in whom Mayweather and Jennings have taken an interest is Toronto rapper Friyie, who recorded a song called “Money Team,” inspired by his first meeting with Mayweather, and the boxer has been playing it when he comes out to fight.
They haven’t signed Friyie to the label, but “Floyd’s supporting him,” says Jennings, who helped program the “Fight Night” playlist on Spotify with the tunes to which Mayweather trains.
Here are a few more of Friyie’s songs.
Ovechkin has also been the subject of a rap song by Brooklyn-based artist Young Planet.
The Great 8, of course, has dabbled some in the rap game as well, recording a verse in Sasha Belyi’s Champion in 2012.
