On August 26, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather will take on UFC fighter Conor McGregor in what may be the biggest fight in history. Ahead of their fight in Las Vegas, the two are partaking in a four-day, four city worldwide press tour.
Mayweather is the favorite to walk away from the event with the victory and he had two special guests during the second date in Toronto: new Capitals forward Devante Smith-Pelly and free agent Hershey Bears forward Christian Thomas.
Smith-Pelly posted the picture with Thomas and the world-famous boxer to his Instagram account. He included a caption that read “money team,” a nod to Mayweather’s camps name.
A double champion in the UFC, McGregor has always had an interest in boxing and craves big fights. After months of rumors of the event taking place, Mayweather stated that only a fight with McGregor would make him come out of retirement. The terms were agreed upon in May 2017.
Billed as The Money Fight and The 180 Million Dollar Dance, Mayweather is expected to earn at least $100 million, increasing up to four times that amount if the event achieves his set metrics. Mayweather also plans to use his earnings to pay off the IRS. McGregor is expected to make $75 million, but confidentiality agreements were signed, disallowing the fighters to discuss financial details publicly. The pay-per-view price in the US is set for $89.95.
On Tuesday, during the first day of the press tour in Los Angeles, McGregor showed up in a pinstripe suit. Upon closer inspection, the pinstripes spelled out a not-so subtle message to Mayweather.
