The Washington Capitals sent fans home happy as they have finished their homestand out with a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. The team now will hit the road for six straight games, starting in Columbus tonight.
The Kings out-shot the Caps 33 to 31.

- The big story of the night is probably that Evgeny Kuznetsov continued his hot streak in a big way. Kuzya recorded his second four point game of the season and now has 15 points in his last eight games. Lets all hope that playoff Kuzy is hear to stay.
- Kuzy’s linemate and the greatest goal scorer of all time, Alex Ovechkin also did something quite notable on Monday night. Ovi now sits alone as the 48th highest point scorer in NHL history, passing Rod Brind’Amour (1,184 points).
- Brett Connolly also continued his hot streak as he now has four goals in his last four games. His thirteenth goal of the season, scored in this game, was his 30th point of the season and that is the first time he has reached that threshold in his NHL career.

- I was highly critical of the Caps effort about 30 minutes into this game, but their second half was much, much better and they came out deserving winners.
- The reasoning given for scratching Dmitrij Jaskin was utterly ridiculous and I think deserves further explanation for how ridiculous it was.
- The Hershey Bears have earned at least one point in their last twelve games, a stretch where they have racked up 11 wins. This stretch has been highlighted by the emergence of Ilya Samsonov as a goaltending force in the AHL. Sammy has a .954 save percentage during the run and has allowed only 9 goals in his last eight starts.
