The Washington Capitals celebrated Pride Night at Capital One Arena Monday during their game against the Los Angeles Kings.
As part of Hockey Is For Everyone month, a number of Capitals players, led by Braden Holtby, taped up their stick blades with rainbow-colored Pride Tape and used the tape in warmups to acknowledge members of the LGBTQ community.
The Capitals also auctioned off signed sticks and specially signed pride pucks during the game, raising $18,300 for the Human Rights Campaign’s Youth Well-Being Project to promote safety, inclusion and well-being for LGBTQ youth in Washington, D.C.
The most popular item was a Pride Puck Set that fetched $3,000.
Here are my photos from warmups.
