The Capitals will hold a Pride Night on February 11 to honor the LGBTQ+ community as part of their Hockey is for Everyone events. They are running an auction for signed sticks and specialty pucks which will remain open until the second intermission of the Kings game.
The sticks were taped with Pride Tape and autographed. The Capitals will use sticks with Pride Tape in warm-ups prior to the game, making this the third year the Capitals have used Pride Tape pregame. Pride Tape is a partner of the NHL and supports You Can Play.
In conjunction with the @NHL's #HockeyisforEveryone campaign, the @Capitals and @MSEFndn are hosting an auction benefiting the Human Rights Campaign (@HRC) Foundation.

The proceeds from the Capitals’ auction will go to the Human Rights Campaign’s Youth Well-Being Project which promotes safety and inclusion for LGBTQ+ youth.
Braden Holtby is the Capitals’ Hockey is for Everyone ambassador and was a guest speaker at the HRC’s National Dinner. Chandler Stephenson, Nathan Walker, Brett Connolly, and their significant others also attended.

“The Caps from Ted down really make sure that everyone knows that hockey is for everyone and that our sport is to be shared with everyone,” Holtby said in an article by the Capitals’ digital correspondent Taryn Bray. “It’s not only meant for certain people, I think that is a stepping stone through sport to lead into all forms of life.”
The only players not participating are Alex Ovechkin, Dmitry Orlov, and Evgeny Kuznetsov. Matt Niskanen, who didn’t participate in 2018, did sign a puck this year. Dmitrij Jaskin and Matt Niskanen are the only players to sign pucks but not sticks.
There is a framed set of thirty Pride Night pucks autographed by players, head coach Todd Reirden, various other coaches, Slapshot, and John Walton.
RMNB also has plenty of new Pride merchandise designed by our very own Rachel Cohen.
Bidding for sticks and pucks is open from now until the second intermission of the game on the 11th!
