The Hershey Bears’ 2-1 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms got scrappy on Saturday night, as Hershey forward and Capitals prospect Beck Malenstyn dropped the gloves in a brutal beatdown of Philip Samuelsson.

The bout occurred during the third period, with 11:35 remaining on the clock and the Bears clinging on to their 2-1 lead. Malenstyn recovered quickly after Samuelsson got in the first hit, and gave him no quarter as he pummeled the Phantoms’ defender behind the net.
Malenstyn was drafted by the Capitals in the fifth round, 145th overall, in the 2016 NHL Draft. During his 2018-19 season with Hershey, Malenstyn has put up four goals, four assists, and 48 penalty minutes in 43 games played.
The Bears would go on to win the matchup against the Phantoms, improving to 7-0-0-1 in their last eight games. Nathan Walker and Ryan Sproul tallied the goals for Hershey, and Russian goaltending prospect Ilya Samsonov stopped 21 of 22 shots he faced.
