Karl Alzner may not be a Capital anymore, but he’s still close friends with many of his former teammates.
Thursday, Lauren Oshie revealed that the Oshie and Alzner families flew to Orlando, Florida and are vacationing together again at Disney World. This is the second time in nearly three years the two families have gone to Disney.
A big part of why is likely due to the close bond between Lyla Oshie and Stella Alzner. Back when TJ and Karl were still living in the area, the two kids were inseparable, routinely going on play dates like this excursion to a playground. The young friends have even watched Caps games together in the past with other Caps’ kids.
The vacation comes as part of the Capitals’ eight-day hiatus between games, which includes the All-Star Break and an NHL bye week.

Lauren posted a photo of the four Oshie and Alzner children posing together at the airport. From left to right, Lyla Oshie, Stella Alzner, Leni Oshie, and Anson Alzner cheese for the camera.
The kids were documented traveling together and exploring the airport.

Lauren also showed off her kids at the hotel store.
The Oshie children also practiced whistling before bed.
The next day, the Oshie’s enjoyed an early breakfast, then adventured into the theme park with the Alzners.
They also looked super stylin’ in their sets of sunglasses.
The Alzners are expecting a third child, a boy. Karl and wife Mandy announced the news in September in an interview with the Montreal Gazette’s Stu Cowan.
During Alzner’s birthday, his wife Mandy baked him a cake and used colored sprinkles and confetti on the inside to reveal the gender.
“She totally shocked me,” Alzner said. “I wasn’t expecting it. As soon as I cut into it, it just all flew up in my face, so it was pretty cool. Our kids were excited and their reactions were completely different. My daughter is the older one and she wanted another girl — and it’s not. So she’s still telling everybody how upset she is. But it was pretty fun and exciting.”
