Columbus Blue Jackets pass Washington Capitals for Metropolitan Division lead

The Caps’ defeat at the barbecue-stained hands of the Nashville Predators had consequences. Earlier on Tuesday night the Columbus Blue Jackets felled the New Jersey Devils, thereby passing the Caps in the division standings.

From the NHL:

Both teams have 59 points in 46 games, but the Blue Jackets have four more regulation/overtime wins, winning the tiebreaker easily.

Columbus beat Washington in overtime this past weekend.

Meanwhile, the Penguins and Islanders are both closing in on the Caps (though Pittsburgh is trailing San Jose right now).
