As you’ve now heard a million times this evening, Brad Marchand and Lars Eller are not friends.
After the Capitals’ 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins this evening, nobody could quite get enough of asking the pair about each other and their second-period incident where Lars Eller dropped the gloves and was ready to fight, but Marchand didn’t want to.
For Marchand, the reason why was easy.

“I haven’t looked at the stats sheet, but I really don’t feel I need to try to prove anything,” Marchand told the media in the locker room after the game. “[Eller] plays maybe 10-12 minutes a night. I’m playing 20. So…and a 1-0 game and to go on the power play…it doesn’t make a lot of sense so that’s the way it is.”
Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Brad.
In the Capitals locker room, Eller said that “there’s not a lot of integrity in his game” of Marchand.
For the record, Eller averages 16:55 of time on ice and won the Capitals the Stanley Cup last season.
