Tuesday, longtime Capitals fan Tyler Duchaine went over 1,000 retweets on a crowd-sourced Twitter post, locking him in on getting a tattoo of Brett Connolly… eating pizza… while getting a tattoo. And because the internet is just the best, Duchaine even got a retweet from Caps forward Devante Smith-Pelly.
Tuesday, before the Capitals suited up against the Philadelphia Flyers, Smith-Pelly spoke to NBC Sports Washington’s Alan May about Duchaine’s tattoo.
He really wants to see it happen.

“How important is it for you to get this done and are you going to be there to witness this?” May asked.
“Yeah, I thought that was hilarious so I would to see that happen,” Smith-Pelly said with a burgeoning smile. “I would love to be there. I’ll pay for it if I have to, too. I want to see that done for sure.”
After the Capitals’ morning skate, Connolly admitted to The Athletic’s Chris Kuc that he saw his Twitter menchies lighting up due to the proposed tattoo idea. He wondered where Duchaine would put the ink on his body and suggested he’d reach out.
Connolly did just that shortly after the Caps’ 5-3 victory over the Flyers.
No turning back now! Wonder where you’re going to get it? 🤔 @tylerduchaine

Duchaine replied, to of course stay on brand with the picture, that he’d buy the pizza.
A deal is a deal. I’m thinking inside the left arm. I’ve submitted inquiries for artists, so pizza is on me if you’d like to join!

Meanwhile, artist Justin Michaliga of the New York Caps Crew submitted an illustration for consideration.
So I wondered how this tattoo would actually look & my BFF @jmichaliga put it to life at the @NYCCapsCrew bar! Looks just like @bconnolly8, right? Cc @NBCSCapitals @russianmachine #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/9bWjiGOzk7

On our Instagram page, Lauren Oshie discussed the photo, her husband’s Wario tattoo, and this #ProudWife moment with Connolly’s wife, Katrina.
Duchaine, a designer, friend, and the only person I know who has found love and his wife (Lindsey <3) at a RMNB party, has turned a Stanley Cup tattoo idea that he had been mulling months over into a ridiculous moment we can all enjoy, anticipate, and share in. He should be proud. That's high art. Full RMNB Coverage of Caps vs Flyers
