In his first season coaching the Washington Capitals, Todd Reirden has led last year’s Stanley Cup champions to a 24-12-4 record and 52 standings points, tied with the Metro rival Pittsburgh Penguins.
Due to Washington’s game in hand, and the fact that the All-Star Game coaches are determined by points percentage through Saturday’s games, Reirden has been named the head coach of the Metro Division for this year’s All-Star Game.
He’ll join fellow Caps John Carlson and Braden Holtby, and there’s still time to vote for Nicklas Backstrom as the last man in for the Metro Division.
Congrats, Coach! Todd Reirden has been named your Metro Divison Coach in the 2019 #NHLAllStar #ALLCAPS
