Nicklas Backstrom needs your vote to be the Metro’s ‘Last Man In’ to the 2019 NHL All-Star Game

The rosters for the 2019 NHL All-Star Game were announced Wednesday night, and to the underwhelmed nonsurprise of many Capitals fans, center Nicklas Backstrom was not among the delegates for the Metropolitan division. 🤦

There is still a way that Backstrom could end up in San Jose for the game. Fans can vote for one “Last Man In” for each division.

Here are the reasons you should absolutely not go to NHL.com/all-star-ballot and vote 10 times per day (from January 3 thru January 10) for Nicklas Backstrom.

  • He’s too good and too pure for the NHL, they don’t deserve his blond hair or delicate touch
  • Our brains simply cannot compute an underrated Nicklas Backstrom
  • The last time he went, he and Evgeny Kuznetsov reprised Alex Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin’s shootout routine. It was hilarious and fun and who needs more of THAT in their All-Star event?
  • The Metropolitan All-Stars would implode in the locker room when trying to pick a first-line center
  • We should not interrupt important vacation plans that include another likely pool date with Mike Green
  • Backstrom would literally melt if he’s in the spotlight too long because he’s actually finely crafted out of Swedish wax
  • IF WE CAN’T GET OVI AND NICKE IN ONE DANG ALL-STAR GAME AT THE SAME TIME IN THEIR ENTIRE CAREERS WILL ANY OF THIS *gestures vaguely at the Washington Capitals and their Stanley Cup* HAVE BEEN WORTH IT?
  • Having the best players actually play in the All-Star Game would defeat the purpose of Gary Bettman having an All-Star Game: to make fans hate the NHL more
  • Backstrom will angrily smolder at everyone who votes for him out of spite for subjecting him to public admiration

I mean, it’s not like he’s even THAT GOOD at “hockey.” After all, he’s only got 843 points in 853 games, is a future Hall of Famer, and is the best player from his Draft Class.

So yeah, definitely don’t vote for Nicklas Backstrom by clicking on this big bold blue link right here.
