Tom Wilson fights Robert Bortuzzo in huge heavyweight bout

Tom Wilson has been suspended three times over the last two years due to dirty hits he delivered to St. Louis Blues players in the preseason. It’s been so bad, Wilson has vowed never to play a preseason game against the Blues ever again.

Thursday, in retribution for a headshot on Oskar Sundqvist, Robert Bortuzzo fought Tom Wilson at center ice. The second-period fight saw both players land several huge uppercuts until they fell to the ice.

“That was a big boy fight,” an admiring Craig Laughlin said of the tango. “That was a heavyweight bout!”

Here’s another view of the fight.

According to Laughlin, the two had been yapping since warmups, where Bortuzzo skated along the red line for the entirety of the pre-game skate.

The fight was Wilson’s third fight of the season.

Bortuzzo was suspended for the first game of the regular season after elbowing Michal Kempny in a preseason game. Bortuzzo, who has appeared in 19 games after suffering an undisclosed lower-body injury, had eight penalty minutes this season prior to this game.
