Not-a-goalie Christian Djoos made a highlight-reel save during the first period of Wednesday night’s game against the New York Rangers.
As chaos reigned supreme in front of the Capitals net, the Swedish defenseman kept a Rangers’ shot from dribbling over the goal line.
As Matt Beleskey attempted a wraparound, Braden Holtby fell down as he made the initial save. Jesper Fast got his hands on the rebound and ripped a shot towards the net. Holtby got a chunk of the puck, but the biscuit squeezed through and started sliding towards the yawning net.
But Djoos, the hero in this story, was standing at the near post and cleared that puck away before it crossed the goal line.
The overhead view shows how close the puck was to fully going in.
Here’s another look from the net cam.
After making the play, Djoos also fell (guys, ice is slippery) and sat right on top of Fast’s head.
