The Senators tried to have fun with their fans and apparently ended up injuring them

The Ottawa Senators decided to have some fun with the crowd before their Thursday night home opener. The good people at Canadian Tire Centre dropped giant white beach balls into the crowd.

The balls spilled fans’ beers and according to some on social media, may have injured children.

Even TSN’s Brent Wallace was caught in the crossfire.

One fan said it was like a “turkey shoot.” But hey, maybe that’s the vibe they were going for?

It could all just be another clever joke we don’t get.

[insert ball dropping pun here]

Maybe this is a brilliant scheme by Eugene Melnyk.

Someone should interview him about it. It can’t be worse than last time, can it?
