The Caps were buzzing in the first few minutes of their first game of the season, and TJ Oshie rocketed an Ovi shot from the Ovi spot.
But not to be lost in the first goal is a huge milestone: Nicklas Backstrom’s 800th point on the assist to Oshie.
Backstrom slung the puck from the blue line, hitting Oshie for a one-timer.
With a primary assist on T.J. Oshie's goal, Nicklas Backstrom recorded his 800th career point (209g, 591a) in his 816th game, all with the Washington Capitals.
