The Capitals play their final preseason game on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues, and one Capital spent Saturday evening dining with the opposition.
Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov had dinner at Joss Cafe & Sushi Bar in Annapolis with Blues forwards Vladimir Tarasenko, Ivan Barbashev, and Dmitrij Jaskin.
The restaurant posted a photo of the four Russians to Facebook.
The Blues are in Annapolis for a four day “team-bonding trip” which includes touring the US Naval Academy, having lunch with midshipmen of the US Navy, and practicing at the Naval Academy’s McMullen Arena. Last season, the Capitals played outdoors in the NHL’s Stadium Series at the Naval Academy.
Orlov and Tarasenko, along with Evgeny Kuznetsov, were teammates in the 2011 World Junior Championship where Russia won the gold medal. Orlov and Tarasenko appear to have remained good friends, even spending Christmas with each other three years ago.
