The Washington Capitals have finally won a preseason game

With the Capitals first regular season game only eight days away, their game has looked pretty lackluster, so much so that only Lucca Carlson could entertain us.

Fortunately, that wasn’t the case Tuesday night as the Capitals finally got their first preseason win in five tries – a 4-0 shutout against the St. Louis Blues.

Pheonix Copley made 42 saves.

Shane Gersich opened the scoring with a rip from the top of the left circle over the shoulder of Jake Allen.

Our favorite Aussie Nathan Walker also got on the scoresheet, parking himself in front of the net and smacking home a pass from John Carlson.

Madison Bowey tipped home a gorgeous Alex Ovechkin feed to grow the lead to three.

And Chandler Stephenson sealed the deal with an empty netter late in the third.

Pheonix Copley bailed the boys out by going full splits on a two-on-none break and scorpion kicking a Ryan O’Reilly attempt. Copley recorded a shutout in his first full preseason game, making his statement for a spot on the opening night roster.

The Stanley Cup champions are finally playing hockey, just in time for the regular season to start.
