The Stanley Cup is putting up a residency in Toronto. After Tom Wilson had the Cup on Sunday, Devante Smith-Pelly spent Monday around the Ontario city with the trophy.
Smith-Pelly started his day at the The Hospital for Sick Children, also known as SickKids. Tom Wilson raised nearly $9,000 on Sunday for SickKids, while Smith-Pelly took the Cup on a tour of the hospital and visited patients throughout the morning.

Before he left, Smith-Pelly stopped by the game room and played some air hockey.
Smith-Pelly then hosted a gathering at his house with some friends, including Capitals forward Brett Connolly.

He put his dog in the Stanley Cup, which, sorry to all the babies, is the best living creature put in the Cup this year.
This is when his day got interesting. While hosting a public gathering for photo opportunities at the Black Dog in Scarborough, Ontario, the sky opened and a massive thunderstorm began. It didn’t stop the locals from standing in line down the block.
Hundreds lined up in the pelting rain, thunder&lightning and monsoon-like conditions to squeeze under a canopy and have a photo taken with Devante Smith-Pelly and the #StanleyCup outside Scarborough's Black Dog Pub. They sure love their hockey in these parts. #caps #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/1vJFak8OZC

Special guests included Steve Dangle and Toronto’s mayor John Tory. Tory stood in line in the rain with his two sons.

Smith-Pelly has had a long road in the NHL. From being praised as a playoff hero with the Anaheim Ducks, to being bought out of his New Jersey Devils contract, he has finally found a home in DC. Longtime friend and Calgary Flames forward Chris Stewart shared a story, calling his journey “from tragedy to triumph.”

Smith-Pelly still has a few more hours left in his day and we know he won’t disappoint.
