After rumors and rumblings the past few days, the Vancouver Canucks won the bidding war with Jay Beagle.
On Sunday afternoon, Beagle signed a four year, $3M AAV contract with the Canucks.
The value of Beagle’s next deal went up over the last few days as a number of teams expressed interested. Vancouver won the bidding war with a long term deal.
Beagle’s previous deal was a three-year deal that paid him $1.75 million annually.
“Jay is a detailed player with championship experience, who can handle a big defensive workload,” said General Manager Jim Benning. “He’s grown and developed his game with a core group of players and won at every level of pro hockey. We’re excited to add a player with his calibre of character.”
