The Washington Capitals have announced that they have signed center Nic Dowd to a one-year deal worth $650k.

Dowd has scored 9 goals and 17 assists in his 131-game career. He is 6-feet, 2-inches tall, 197 pounds, and 28 years old.
Playing for the Kings and Canucks, Dowd won 51 percent of his 396 faceoffs last season. Despite defensive usage, he had a mild positive impact on shot attempts. He will likely compete with Travis Boyd for the 4C slot.

Capitals Sign Nic Dowd
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed center Nic Dowd to a one-year contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. Dowd’s contract will carry an average annual value of $650,000.
Dowd, 28, recorded three goals in 40 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season. Additionally, the 6’2”, 197-pound center ranked third on Vancouver in faceoff win percentage among players with at least 100 draws last season (50.9 win percentage). The native of Huntsville, Alabama, was acquired by Vancouver from the Los Angeles Kings on Dec. 8 for defenseman Jordan Subban. In 16 games with Los Angeles last season, Dowd recorded an assist.
In the 2016-17 season, his first full NHL season, Dowd ranked 10th on Los Angeles with 22 points (6g, 16a).
In three AHL seasons with the Manchester Monarchs and the Ontario Reign, Dowd recorded 92 points (23g, 69a) in 140 games. Additionally, Dowd collected 25 points (12g, 13a) in 36 AHL playoff games. In 2015, Dowd recorded 13 points (7g, 6a) in 19 playoff games and won a Calder Cup with Manchester.
Dowd attended St. Cloud State University (NCAA), serving as captain in his senior year. Dowd recorded 40 points (22g, 18a) in 38 games during his senior season and finished as a Hobey Baker finalist as the NCAA’s top player in 2014.
Dowd was selected by Los Angeles in the seventh round, 198th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft
