The Capitals online store sold out of Draft hats before the 2018 NHL Draft started

With the Stanley Cup playoffs wrapped up for the 2017-18 season and Lord Stanley’s Cup securely in the possession of the Washington Capitals, the NHL is now turning to the 2018 Draft.

On June 12, the NHL released the hats that will be worn by every player drafted.

The draft hasn’t even started yet and the Capitals’ design has already sold out. We’re serious.

This isn’t entirely surprising, as the Capitals have been breaking records for Stanley Cup merchandise sales.

The Capitals’ navy blue Draft Hat features the Weagle logo, with a half-tone red pattern behind it.

The design is definitely an improvement on the lids from last year’s Draft, the first designed by adidas, which were modeled after the redesigned jerseys and made from the same material.

The NHL said that the sold out Draft hats will be back in stock sometime in the “next few weeks.”

In the 2018 Draft, the Capitals have a first round pick (31st overall), as well as picks in all other rounds. Their fifth round pick was traded to the Minnesota Wild in 2017, in return for Tyler Graovac.

You can purchase your own Capitals 2018 Draft Hat from Fanatics when they come back into stock. Hats that aren’t sold out for all other teams are available here.
