Wednesday at noon, the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals announced their home opener for next season.
The team will play the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, October 3 at Capital One Arena.

The team doesn’t say it outright, but it should be assumed the Capitals will hold their banner raising that night.
The only bummer about the news is the team the Caps will be playing. Two seasons ago, the NHL scheduled the Capitals for the Penguins’ banner raising. How great would it have been to return the favor to the team’s biggest rival?
@NHL If the Caps don't have their banner raising against the Penguins, you're doing it wrong

Instead, the Capitals will play in Pittsburgh the very next night for the Penguins home opener.
106 days until regular season hockey.
