Start your countdown, because the 2018-19 season will be here sooner than you know it. On Monday, the Capitals officially announced their schedule for the 2018 preseason.
As first reported by WTOP’s Ben Raby Sunday, the team has confirmed that the Capitals will play seven preseason games against Boston, Montreal, St. Louis, and Carolina.
The Caps will open their preseason on the road in Boston on September 16, and will complete the home-and-home on the 18th at Capital One Arena. The team then hits the road to play Montreal in Quebec City at the Centre Vidéotron September 20, in Carolina September 21, and in St. Louis on September 25. They will wrap up the preseason with two games at home: September 28 against Carolina and September 30 against St. Louis.

The NHL will announce the regular season home openers on Wednesday June 20, followed by the entire season the following day, Thursday June 21.

The Washington Capitals have released their 2018-19 preseason schedule, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. The schedule will feature seven games against four opponents and will include three games at Capital One Arena.
The Capitals will open their preseason schedule against the Boston Bruins on Sept. 16 at TD Garden, then will return to Washington to host the Bruins on Sept. 18. Washington will then face the Montreal Canadiens in Quebec City on Sept. 20, followed by a visit to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sept. 21. The Capitals will then travel to St. Louis to face the Blues on Sept. 25 before closing the preseason with two home matchups against the Hurricanes and Blues on Sept. 28 and Sept. 30, respectively.
The Capitals were 2-5-0 in the preseason in 2017-18 and their all-time preseason record is 163-124-33-14.
