Lars Eller does hot lap again ahead of Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final

Our very superstitious Capitals are back in Las Vegas ahead of Game Five. One more win will see them come home with that big silver shiny thing.

Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena, Lars Eller did the hot lap again because the Caps won’t win without him doing so.

Here’s another look from NBC Sports Washington’s Tarik El-Bashir.

Eller inherited the hot lap from Barry Trotz ahead of Game Two, following the Capitals’ loss to the Golden Knights in the first game of the Stanley Cup Final.

The hot lap has moved through the Capitals’ ranks throughout the playoffs. Jay Beagle was the originator of the tradition, before Alex Ovechkin took over in Round Two. After their road loss against Tampa Bay, Trotz stepped up for two games.

Here’s hoping Eller will be the last player to do the tradition in the 2017-18 postseason.
