Tom Wilson fights Braydon Coburn after the Lightning defenseman rips Evgeny Kuznetsov’s jersey off

The first period of Game Seven was wild. It featured an Alex Ovechkin goal on the first shift. Then we got the full Tom Wilson experience at the tail end of the stanza.

During an Ovechkin chance in front of the net, a scrum broke out between the Capitals and Bolts. That seemed normal. Well, that is until Evgeny Kuznetsov started getting undressed by Braydon Coburn.

Coburn ripped Kuzy’s jersey off, and sassily tossed it to the ice.

Here’s another look.

This blatant disrespect of one of the Caps’ superstars made Tom Wilson very, very angry.

So as soon as two players’ matching minors for roughing ended, Wilson skated to the entrance of Coburn’s penalty box and dropped his gloves.

Wilson punched Coburn’s helmet off in the angry tussel.

But bloodied his right hand badly.

While that was the most boss thing I’ve ever witnessed, the fight was arguably a bad decision by Wilson. The first-line forward risked injury. He’s also hurting the team by not being on the ice. Wilson was the catalyst for the Caps’ first goal of the night. He needs to ignore bouts like these, especially when the trade off is a third-pairing defenseman in a Game Seven.
