RMNB was on NHL Network to talk about the Capitals in the Eastern Conference Final

Wednesday afternoon, I was a guest on NHL Network’s NHL Now and spoke to Jackie Redmond about the latest happenings with the Washington Capitals.

The fun part was Jackie did not give me lame, narrative-driven questions. I got awesome, open-ended questions and I think I did ok?

I dunno. You tell me.

A few notes:

  • I spent 35 minutes rearranging my two computers before the Skype call so that my iMac, which actually has an internal video camera, could be facing my RMNB sign. Branding, people.
  • My wall is a tribute to my two most favorite hockey commentators in the whole wide world. I have a picture up of Alan May and a signed hockey card of RMNB Party X star Pierre McGuire. Also, you’ll notice Mike Green’s last Easton Stealth CNT stick and the hood from the RMNB-sponsored NASCAR.
  • A thing I learned about myself today. I don’t believe in jinxes, but I’m too superstitious to give an opinion on if Alex Ovechkin will win a Stanley Cup or not. Is that a cop out?
  • I don’t necessarily think the Caps are a good road team and have some secret success. I just think in a short sample size, they are winning a lot of road games. The playoffs are situational and the Caps had a lot of momentum and were playing great hockey after that Blue Jackets series. It’s important to remember the Caps finished only six games over .500 this year on the road during the regular season.
  • I called Alan May a frenemy.
  • I was asked about my alma mater, UMBC. Jackie asked what the better moment was between UMBC upsetting Virginia or Caps finally advancing to ECF. Please no one tweet @UMBCAthletics and tell them what I said.
  • On a show aired by the NHL, I expressed my view that the NHL is inconsistent with its suspensions and should penalize all head hits of any kind.

I haven’t re-watched the video because I lived it live and hate myself. But please tell me how I did. Also, make fun of me. But don’t be too mean. I have feelings you know.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
