At this point in his career, Tom Wilson seems to own real estate in the head of every team he plays. This Lightning series is no exception.
During Game Three, Wilson laid out Tyler Johnson in the first period with a clean hit. Minutes later, Anton Stralman returned the favor, but he may regret it tomorrow.
The hit will likely be reviewed by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.
As Wilson dug the puck out of the corner, Stralman, who was leading with his right elbow, hit Wilson in the numbers.
Wilson went head first into the boards and crumpled to the ice.
#TopLineTom laid on the ice for a minute before getting up and returning to the bench. He did not miss a shift.
Stralman received a two-minute minor for boarding.
Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin had some angry words for Stralman immediately after the play.
This was just the first of several physical plays involving Wilson. Earlier in the first period, Wilson bumped Cedric Paquette before the Bolts forward checked Tom into the Caps bench.
Wilson also laid out Johnson after a scoring chance.
