Jakub Vrana started the third period on the first line. He paid instant dividends.
Vrana tallied his second primary assist of Game Five after finding Evgeny Kuznetsov wide open at the Penguins blue line.
Kuznetsov raced in on goal and scored to tie a pivotal Game Five 3-3.

Matt Niskanen started the breakout behind the Caps net by finding Vrana on the wing. Noticing Kuznetsov was flying free as a bird in the the neutral zone, Vrana skated up the ice, found a good angle, and hit Kuzy in stride.
Kuzy tucked the puck underneath Matt Murray’s five hole.
Here’s another look.
Kuznetsov took advantage of a defensive miscue between Kris Letang and Brian Dumoulin, who found themselves on the same side of the ice.
Kuznetsov dusted off the bird walk celly to celebrate.
What a huge goal.
